After reading about the Spellcheckers strategy, I have mixed feelings about it. Being a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, this strategy would not be appropriate for most of my students since they do not have access to phonics and auditory channels. Using this strategy would require extensive and explicit instruction with phonics, which I do not have time for and would also take away from using a word processing program. I would not use this strategy in my classroom.
